Ford Focus Hatchback (2005 - 2011) 1.8 Sport 5d Owner Review

I bought this as a second car which was capable of transporting the kids, as well as for the wife to use for work. Overall it has been very good. Reliability has been excellent, it isn't the fastest car on the road but it is adequate, and it averages a respectable 36mpg in normal use. Loads of room inside it, the spec is rather basic but you do get aircon and it isn't what you would call sporty despite being called a sport. However as a device for transporting a family or for getting from A to B in fuss free comfort then it is perfect. It also handles well enough to be fun on a backroad, and parts for home servicing are cheap. I would certainly recommend this car, I also test drove a 1.6 (100bhp) and that felt underpowered so I certainly think the 1.8 is a better choice. Especially considering that it is quite a heavy car.
