Ford Focus Hatchback (2005 - 2011) 1.8 TDCi Ghia 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
I was a big fan of Focus cars both diesel and petrol and had nearly 4 cars in last 5 years.
I bought 1.8 TDCI Ghia as I started doing more motorway miles now. The car developed a vibration and almost all mechanics advised Fords are not reliable however advised 1.8 engines are plenty on the road so there shouldn't be too hard to fix.
Breakdown guy had no clue what the cause of the problem was. I've been to Ford dealer in Gateshead he didn't have a clue so went to quite a few mechanics to change Drive shafts>Gearbox>Clutch>DMF.
Injector specialist told me Siemens injectors used in these engines are known to be unreliable. They are so bad that during the test they fail so why would a company like Ford use such unreliable parts and useless dealers. You can't plan a long drive with these used focus cars because if it breaks down no one will have a clue what the problem is.
Also, 1.8 is an 8 valve engine and there is no specification guide mentioning the technical details of the car. I would do a lot of checks before buying another Focus or any ford car or simply buy Nissan, Toyota or VW cars.
