Summary
What does this car say about you?
That i played it 'safe', but ended up paying the price with a typical unreliable ford.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
That its a nice looking car.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Hell no. Will only make this mistake once. Would never touch another ford. The car itself is awful and fords service is the worst i've encountered. I will stick to german and japanese cars again, they are far superior.
What are you likely to buy next?
A BMW or a Honda of some sort.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£7,800
When did you buy the car?
July 2010
Did you get a good deal and why?
Technically no. They put the wrong price on the car, told me i'd pay the advertised price and not the original. Once finance paperwork etc came through it turned out that they put through the original price anyway.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I'd read that the focus mk1 was very reliable, so figured the mk2 should be and I needed to change to a diesel for work due to the increase in miles i'd be driving.
What was the dealer like?
At the time thought they were good, however turned out they cut corners to save themselves money, especially when it comes to servicing and repairs.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Despite one of the wheels somehow being buckled between the test drive and me picking up the car after purchasing. The car did drive superbly once this was fixed, however over a short space of time and many many repairs of failed (genuine ford apparently) parts later, the car feels twitchy, noisy, very bumpy and generally just awful.
What's it like to park?
Very easy. visibility is good.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Countless things. EGR valve failed, Both front wishbones failed, Front brake discs warped too easily, had them upgraded to better quality ones, Front left wheel hub failed twice in 1 year. Rear left wheel hub failed. CV joints failed. A/C failed. Ford servicing claimed to replace parts when they in fact did not, resulting in performance issues that an independent garage had to rectify for me. This has been the most unreliable car i've ever owned.
What's most practical about your car?
Good sized boot.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The android based touchscreen headunit that I added myself.
