Economy
Value
Sensibly priced new, especially when discounts are taken into account. Probably best value nearly new with a decent slice of warranty.
Costs
Surprisingly good fuel economy from 2.0 petrol - much better than old 2.0 Focus. Easy 32mpg or close to 40mpg if driven intelligently. Financial benefit in going diesel much less than you'd think. Servicing and repair costs low in line with other Fords.

On the road
Driving
Overall Superb. Smooth, precise and accurate to drive. Engine is smooth, refined and rewarding to rev. Excellent steering if left in Sport mode and superb body control under undulating roads. Ride much better and quieter than previous Focus.
Performance
Could do with a bit more bottom end torque but still more than adequate for day to day driving. Likes to be revved (unlike diesel) and is a blast on country roads. Good fun when kept 'on the boil' above 4000rpm and doesn't sound like a tractor.

Living with it
Reliability
Overall surprisingly good given early build date. A few minor warranty issues but all sorted now.
Image
Looks truly dreadful in poverty spec with small wheels and in the wrong colour. High spec cars okay though, smart enough without being attention seeking. Overall 2 stars for 1.6 LX, 4 stars for Titanium on 17s. Much prefer 3dr over 5dr.
Comfort
Excellent ergonomics and driving position plus lots of space. Nicely weighted pedals and no offset. No ankle ache or other pains on long journeys.

Security and Service
Security
All the fundamentals seem to be in place (Thatcham immobiliser etc.) and haven't had it stolen yet.
Service
Quality of service varies massiveley but my dealer is excellent. Plenty of dealers around so if you're not happy with one it's easy to find another. There are a few good ones out there.
