Ford Focus Hatchback (2011 - 2018) 1.0 EcoBoost (125bhp) Titanium 5d Auto Owner Review

In their own words
I bought the Focus as a replacement for a Fiat Tipo. It is my first Ford car since I had a company Orion back in the 1980's. It is also my first ever automatic. I needed to change from a manual gearbox because of arthritis in my hips and I chose the Focus because of generally positive reviews and the fact that I was so impressed with my friend's Fiesta with the auto box and ecoboost 1.0 engine.
I am delighted with the car after almost 1 year of ownership. It is comfortable, economical and a joy to drive. Despite being a long term owner and fan of Italian cars, I have to say that the Focus is a whole class above the Fiat in terms of quality and driving pleasure. It is well worth the relatively small additional cost.
I have read the horror stories about the 'ecoboom' engines but I've got nothing but praise for it's performance and reliability so far. My local Ford specialist recommends 6 monthly oil changes using the correct Ford branded oil so I have taken this advice for the relatively small cost involved.
The only fault I've had with the car was the failure of the automatic radiator shutter mechanism which was fixed under the dealer warranty that came with the car.
Overall, the best car I've ever owned in terms of meeting my requirements with hardly any irritating faults or omissions.
