Ford Focus Hatchback (2011 - 2018) 1.0 EcoBoost Style 5d Owner Review

In their own words
The ford focus is a reasonably cheap, sensible, practical good all rounder that provides excellent value for money. It's not going to wow you, but its worth more than every penny.
The exterior looks smart, sharp and sensible, if a little angry due to the new grille shape and headlights. The interior continues this theme with a well constructed trim that doesn't boast the highest quality, although it isn't terrible. The controls are laid out logically although they don't always fall easy to hand whilst driving. Levels are equipment are generous, even on base models.
The seats are comfortable and provide good flexibility for all types of passengers, headroom and front legroom is excellent. Rear legroom is good although lacks behind rivals for a car of this size. Lateral side support is acceptable but for a car with good handling such as this, it would be nice to see more for tight corners.
Handling wise this car is very stable with good body control, lean is minimal and traction is good (even in the wet). The steering is light although lacks feedback which detracts from the feel of the car. The gear changes are smooth and the brakes are particularly sharp, although lack progression in terms of foot travel. Its also funny an "Eco" model doesn't have a 6th gear.
This particular model is the 1l eco boost 99bhp, considering this is the slowest model, its hardly slow, although it remains steady. Thanks to the turbo, torque is spread across the rev range, this gives the car a linear power delivery and good in gear pace for ease of progression. Its not going to go quickly if you plant your foot and there is a fair amount of turbo lag, however the car does respond predictably, smoothly and its progression is never hindered - a consistent performer given all conditions you could say. Economy is also ridiculously good.
Although its not perfect, its pretty good, and certainly a no brainer if you require a sensible, practical, reliable, low cost car, it is definitely excellent value for money.
