Ford Focus Hatchback (2011 - 2018) 1.6 EcoBoost Titanium Navigator 5d Owner Review

In their own words
I purchased a very low mileage 2014 Ford Focus Estate in 2016 from a Ford Dealer. It was great until 2 weeks ago when I had a total failure of the power steering unit. Not a great experience when driving in France.
Yes, its a 6 year old car - 70,000 miles, but I didn't expect such a costly failure so soon? Estimating in the region £1.5 to £2K (best guess at the moment)
Yep, I am moaning over a 6 year old car. But when checking the internet it seems this is a common issue for 2010-2015 Focus & C-Max?
Am I unreasonable to expect the power steering to last a bit longer in a car? The whole unit needs to be replaced - 1000 euro was estimated for the part (from a French garage). Quoted £120 per hour for diagnostics to confirm the fault in the UK.
Wasn't looking to get it repaired for free LOL, but was totally shut down by Ford Customer Service. I just wanted to make the point that most people would expect the main power steering unit to last a bit longer in a car - maybe I expect too much?
So overall I am quite disappointed with Ford and my Focus. Left a sour taste in my mouth which has put me off purchasing any Ford car in the future.
Moan over.
