Ford Galaxy (2006 - 2014) 1.6 EcoBoost Zetec (Start Stop) 5d Owner Review

In their own words
The ultimate cruiser for large families. We opted for the Zetec 1.6 EcoBoost, I was concerned about engine size, though pleasantly surprised how spritely this thing is. Considered the 2.0, but tax and mpg didn’t work for us, maybe next time. Our mileage didn’t warrant a diesel. My wife’s a childminder to, so lots of short schools runs, we’d soon be buying a new DPF. However with 160 bhp, this petrol is no slouch. Will get you to 60mph and beyond rapidly leaving wanna be boy racers eating your dust as the turbo spools up. 6 speed is great on the motorways happily carry you well above the speed limit should you ask it too with ease. The gear ratios are pretty well rounded and the car has enough grunt to happily take off from low revs in 2nd, a blessing in slow traffic as you not constantly between 1st and 2nd. This thing drives like it’s on rails considering it’s height. Doesn’t wallow around the bends like my old Zafira, or the Citroen Grande C4. The cabin is well isolated from road noise The interior is solidly built though the Zetec does lack some of the finesse of the Titanium range and does feel a little basic compared to it’s foreign counter parts. Seven full size seats will accommodate dehires of all shapes and sizes in absolute comfort. Bonus is you still have reasonable amount of storage. Put all the back seats down and you have yourself a minivan. MPG is no where near published figures, but respectable. I probably drive it too hard, it’s more fun. Should you want a large family wagon, which makes you smile every time you take the wheel look no further. Galaxy’s demand a premium compared to its fellows, but worth every penny.
