Ford Granada Hatchback 2.0i Ghia 5d (1986/D) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Cost me £1000 2nd hand and in the 6 years I owned it, no problems - new exhaust mid-section and tyres was all I ever needed to do to it.
Costs
Averaged around 34mpg on 4*/unleaded parts were not as expensive as those for other cars in the class.

On the road
Driving
Good handling, stable and comfortable and powerful enough.
Performance
Some would say slightly underpowered as a 2.0ltr, but I found it to be fast enough on take off and it always had that extra pull for overtaking when you asked for it, even when cruising at 100mph.

Living with it
Reliability
Never had cause to fault it, in either freezing winter or sweltering summer temperatures.
Image
Folk reckoned it was an old mans car, hence the nickname Ford Grandad, but when your travelling in comfort with loads of leg room, who cares what folk think??
Comfort
Friends described it as a 3 piece suite on wheels - all the electric toys and reclining rear seats too.

Security and Service
Security
Standard Ford factory fitted.

In all the time I owned it, the only annoyance I had was that the cruise control was sometimes a bit slow to respond when you used the steering mounted controls to speed the car up.
