The Grand C-Max originally achieved the full five stars in the Euro NCAP safety test back in 2010, but when re-assessed with tougher criteria in 2017 it dropped to three stars.

Ford has added a comprehensive suite of advanced active safety technologies featuring Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Anti-lock Braking (ABS) including Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Corner Brake Control (CBC).

The Grand C-Max has also got Traction Control System (TCS), Blind Spot Information System Active Park Assist. Passengers are well catered for as Ford has installed front airbags for driver and the front seat passenger. There are also side airbags for the driver and passenger and standard curtain airbags for the first and second row of seats. A Thatcham category one alarm is also standard and this has given the car a lower insurance grouping.

The Grand C-Max will be the big seller because the seven-seat layout works well. The engineers have designed a flexible 2+3+2 seating configuration. The three individual seats in the rear split 40/20/40. Practicality can be enhanced by adding the Comfort System, which allows you to fold the centre seat away and slide the outer seats backwards giving passengers more legroom and a 2+2 configuration.

However, the two seats in the rear should be used for small children because space is limited. Loadroom ranges from a minimum of 432 litres and expands to 1,723 litres with the rear seats folded.
