Ford Maverick 3.0 XLT 5d Auto (2001/51) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Excellent, heavily specc'd for the money, electrical everything, a.c. Like the Probe and the Cougar, not very popular in the UK so you get good deals.
Costs
It's a Ford so they are reasonable, especially being a 4x4. 25~29 mpg.

On the road
Driving
V. Good, virtually no body roll, smooth drive, steering v. good, more car- like than 4x4 to drive. Nearest to off- road driving so far was forest drive through Keilder and local roads around Barnsley, it stood up reasonably well.
Performance
As expected for a 4x4, good mid range power for overtaking, good brakes to stop you.

Living with it
Reliability
No problems so far, hope it's as good as the Cougar we had.
Image
The americans love em, however in the UK they don't seem as popular at all. Maybe because it's a Ford, they make popular rep cars. Family work cars and small cars but not 4x4, coupes or executive cars. It’s a headturner in white with privacy glass fitted
Comfort
V. good, excellent driving position, fairly hard seats though. Accomodation is good for feeding and changing babies, and sleeping in after ferry to the Isle of Man.
