Summary
What does this car say about you?
Never asked anyone... person who needs to move stuff about often?
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They like being passengers in it but know the thirsty 2.0l engine is making massive holes in my wallet.
Would you buy this car again and why?
No. Main dealer and the "known issues" put me off. On the one hand, it's never not started, even during the blistering cold. But the ~£800 MOT bill on top of the J-class tax banding every year is making me want out!
What are you likely to buy next?
Thinking BMW 3-series or a van.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchise
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£4,999
When did you buy the car?
January 2009
Did you get a good deal and why?
Car-wise, should have haggled a bit more, but at the time was about right on market value. Bought at Evans Halshaw. Managed to flog me a year's warranty with it which turned out to be completely useless.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
What was the dealer like?
Sales were fine, looked at a few cars and finance was a breeze. But the year's warranty I paid £249 for was rubbish! Aftersales were terrible! Complained and complained to EH Customer Services after I paying out for a warranty to be told it covered precisely sod all!

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Great! Smooth as you like, just like a Ford. Comfortable, but entirely forgetable. It's a commuters car at the end of the day.
What's it like to park?
Easy if you do it properly...

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Yep, this car eats spark plugs, HT leads, Coil Packs and Tyres for breakfast. Had to have the air intake manifold replaced, a known issue (£300) and had to have the rear bushings done practically every MOT. Front wishbone went costing £690. Fancy 1 year warranty covered a thermostat and nothing else!
What's most practical about your car?
Love the space, love the dash layout, love the comfort. I can fit a whole band's worth of gear in it and still have space for a groupie!
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The fact that it's an estate. Cruise control died a while back, but at £500 to repair it, I've left it dead. It was nice for the few thousand miles I had it working though...
