Ford Mondeo Hatchback 2.0 Zetec 5d (2002/51) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Excellent value for money. Well specced and stylish to look at inside and out.
Costs
Can be thirsty when driving around town, and low profile tyres can wear out quite quickly. Dealers more expensive for parts and servicing than indepedant suppliers.

On the road
Driving
Drives brilliantly. Handling is excellent with nice weighty steering and good grip. Body roll is minimal.
Performance
Excellent. Powerful from low down without needing to be thrashed.

Living with it
Reliability
No serious problems as of yet, though plastic bumpers shatter very easily and are expensive to replace.
Image
Still has the Mondeo Man tag, despite sporty appearance with spoilers and alloy wheels.
Comfort
Very comfortable and supportive seats. Very quite inside and engine not intrusive. Big wheels do tend to make bad bumps in the road more noticable.

Security and Service
Security
Remote locking and boot opening. Driver's door unlocks first, which prevents somebody opening the passenger door whilst you are getting in.
Service
Dealer was helpful, though I find that parts can be obtained cheaper from indepedant specialists.
