Economy
Value
Like most second hand cars. Depreciates rather a lot.
Costs
Very expensive to repair and service the V6 duratec engine.

Driving
Very enthusiastic to drive. handles well on corners.
Performance
Very quick off the mark if planted on the right foot, but does suffer from a bit of hesitence when pulling away. Early Sis had a short ratio gearbox.

Living with it
Reliability
Yet again I can't fault the car as it's run very well. Only shortfalls are a couple of breakdows from expensive parts, such as the CAT the Front and rear manifold gaskets. Head gaskets front and back, plus the coil pack breaks down when older.
Image
The image of the Mondeo being the peoples popular car has got better with the cost of second hand ones falling. The Si looks mean and low to the ground but a general good image.
Comfort
Adequate comfort. Sports front seats hug and support you. Rears are large and can fit an adult well.

Security and Service
Security
Alarm and immobiliser are very good. All factory fit.
Service
Old Bexley CD Bramwells are very good with service. Parts can be expensive but if you are a good DIY mechanic you can service the Duratec yourself. I recommend every 10k miles an oil change with synthetic oil.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Duratec. Expect expense if anything goes wrong with it. Normal prices are from £400 upwards because of labour charges. Head gaskets go very easy and waterpumps can fail leading to overheating. Make sure it's serviced every 10k to stop this happening.
Other
Seems to knock tracking out with the weight of the engine and front lower wishbone bushes always go every year. Easy to replace though and pretty cheap. The passenger side can be harder though.
