Economy
Value
Excellent value. There are so many around that you can pick them up for next to nothing. I got mine for £175 as it had a worn coil pack (about £60 to replace).
Costs
Very easy to service yourself with a little know-how. Main dealers are expensive, but local parts stores and scrap yards may often have a suitable alternative for a lot less. The V6 is slightly more expensive to run and maintain than the other models.

Driving
Excellent handling and great fun to drive. The sports seats make it more comfortable for around bends etc.
Performance
You put your foot down and it moves! It might look like a rep mobile, but it's got a lot under the bonnet!

Living with it
Reliability
If serviced regularly and looked after the V6 model can be very reliable. They tend to be more temperamental than other Mondeo engines but mine's still going strong on 130k miles.
Image
Always considered as a rep mobile, but there are lot of people out there who think otherwise. There are some very nice modified examples which are anything but grandad cars!
Comfort
Very comfotable. Excellent driving position, fully adjustable driver's seat and steering wheel make it suitable for people of all heights and sizes. Plenty of room for 3 adults in the back.

Security and Service
Security
Depends on the age of the car. The older M plate models have a Bosch immobiliser system with a button to disarm it. These are prone to break (mine did), so it's worth upgrading. The later models with the red chip in the key are better.
Service
Don't tend to use main dealer except for obscure parts that are not available elsewhere as can generally get the same work for less.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Lower inlet manifold and coil pack needed replacing. I've upgraded to a metal water pump as the standard plastic one tend to break up. The V6 is also prone to head gasket failure so getting anything over 100k is good. Don't pay too much for a high miler.
Other
The lower wishbones tend to go on these (seems to be a design fault on all the Mondeos) but not too expensive to replace.
