Ford Mondeo Hatchback (2000 - 2007) 2.0TDCi Ghia X (115ps) 5d (04) Owner Review

Excellent car for the 6.5 years worth of ownership. Bought the car as i was commuting 55 miles a day for work and having things like built in Navigation, Xenon headlights, Heated & Cooled Seats, Parking Sensors, Auto Climate & Full Leather made it attractive. I am anal about car maintenance and only use decent fully synthetic oil, only use premium fuels etc and always stick to the service schedule, and given I have done 130000 miles in a car i bought with already 100k on the clock it has been very reliable. Springs breaking are a common issue as are ARB linkages but they are cheap to replace, they also like to split the boost hose behind the radiator £100 for a new one from a dealer but can be DIY swapped in about 20 mins. Do not use supermarket diesel in one of these or buy one for short journeys, you will end up needing new injectors which are not cheap. The car handles well on Goodyear Efficient grips but handled like a dog on cheap rubber, wheelspin & understeer galore in the rain. On a motorway 60MPG+ on the trip computer is easy if you leave the cruise set at 70MPH. if you are prepared to drop to 60 you can get upto 73MPG on a long journey, around town you can expect 45MPG.
