Ford Mondeo Hatchback (2000 - 2007) 2.5 Ghia X 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
I had a 2004 Mondeo 1.8 LX bought in 2012 with 80K on the clock and ran it untill 2015 when it had 150K on clock, it was a very good car so I thought I would get another one. Trouble was I only had a small budget of £1500 and most of the cars I was looking at were as bad as the one I had!
I found the 2003 Mondeo 2.5 V6 Ghia, with 70K on the clock and a full service history for only £1200 and it was in pretty much mint condition. Nobody wants these cars as the fuel bills scare them off, nevertheless, it was a stand out compared with some of the scrappers on offer, so I snapped it up.
The 1.8 LX handled a lot better (lighter engine better balanced car). However, the 2.5 V6 goes like stink (make sure you change the air filter regularly). If you get a good one for a good price, it will do you a good turn for a good few years.
Get it on a straight bit of road and put the boot down and it will take out today's "eco" engine cars no bother. Today, I was on a dual carrigeway and I blew this BMW away, no problem, the guy was well vexed, his car looked the business, but when push came to shove, his pride and joy couldn't live with the aged boring old Ford Mondeo, topped off with a carbuncle of a roof box.
They don't make cars like this anymore, if you find a good one, BUY IT.
How reliable do you find the car?
Rear shock absorbers, ignition leads replaced which are wear and tear items. Also clutch with dual mass flywheel, which was expensive to replace £800.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
The car goes like a rocket, handles well and is a decent second hand buy.About their car
