Ford Mondeo Hatchback (2014 - 2022) Titanium Edition 2.0 Duratorq TDCi 210PS PowerShift auto 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
The Mondeo is a very useful car - it's big, it's comfy, it's easy to live with. So far, so common - there's many a car like that. But what sets it apart in my eyes is that it also likes to play. I live in a near-mountainous area, and this car just loves to go over the local B- and C-roads up and down the steep hills. Response to inputs is immediate, and that's important to me. (Perhaps I should add that the version I have comes with lowered suspension.) It's never going to beat a Focus ST but you can feel it's been designed by the same people.
I looked at an Audi A5 Sportback and a VW Passat at the same time - both beautifully made and well appointed, but neither could hold a candle to the Mondeo when it came to driving it on the local roads. And yes, I also looked at a BMW 320d - great car, loved driving it, but far more expensive to buy second-hand (with only 2 years on it) than a Ford and nowhere near as practical.
Where the Ford really surprised me is the interior. My previous car was a 2011 Mondeo Titanium diesel, nominally the same spec as this one. But the 2018 version surprised and delighted with the upgraded interior. Leather, heated seats; airbags in the backseat seatbelts; much-improved dashboard. And the standard Xenon headlights, which move with the direction of the car, are extremely useful in a rural area.
Like this car? No, love it. It depreciates like nobody's business, but that's fine by me - I intend to keep it for a long time yet.
There's only one nagging thing about this 2018 Mondeo: there's no immediate successor in the Ford line-up. Until they learn how to put the Mustang-E electrical package in a sedan body, hopefully, but with the craze for SUV's I'm not holding my breath.
How reliable do you find the car?
Bought the car 18 months old and with no more than 3,000 miles on the clock. Tat was just before Covid, so I've only been able to add another 9,000 miles so far. But I'm delighted with the car - it's got everything, and it all works.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Had a 2013 Mondeo diesel and the latest one is considerably more powerful. The sat-nav is a great addition and easy to use; and the voice-command mode has been well-developed and allows me to keep my hands on the wheel.About their car
