Ford Mondeo Saloon 2.0TD Zetec 4d (2001/X) Owner Review

-
Economy
Value
Bought it new and have never seen any car depreciate so much. You can watch the price fall daily on the internet price guides.
Costs
45+ mpg and it can really move. The best argument to buy a diesel so far.
-
On the road
Driving
Motorways or B-roads, it shifts and handles great.
Performance
Never knew diesels had so much go.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Apart from a few niggles while new, which the dealer knew how to cure imediately. Must have been common problems.
Image
A bit dull and dated now. Everyone has one. But with a nice colour, a good polish and decent alloys, it still looks the part.
Comfort
I'm 6' 4", and the only problem is my lower leg pushed hard against the edge of the centre console. If this was slightly thinner, who knows.

Security and Service
Security
They blow their own trumpet. Hasn't been stolen yet.
Service
Friendly enough and done everything, but never had the car ready when promised.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Has loosened up a lot in 45,000 miles. I prefered it when it was tight. But no problems whatsoever.
Other
Drivers window sticks down in the rain or when covered in dew, if opened.
