Ford Orion 1990
  • Economy

    Value

    4 out of 5 4.0

Price has dropped out of the market for these. Good news for the prospective buyer.

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

Standard cheap Ford parts, but unless maintained these cheap parts can mount up the costs of running.

  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Good steering at speed, decent suspension, and brakes have good stopping power. Needs power steering.

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

Will top 110mph+ quite easily and drive at 90mph all day, but don't expect to overtake anything comfortably - no real power pick-up until in excess of 3.5k revs.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

Pretty good, but things like front tyres, track rod ends/arms and brakes will need replacing about every 12 months depending on your driving and mileage. I've only broken down once in nearly three years.

    Image

I rather like the looks for what it is. Slap some alloys on it and it'll make all the difference.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

I once drove a 400 mile round trip, with no back aches or leg cramps and I'm 6' 3"!

  • Security and Service

    Security

    1 out of 5 1.0

Recently had mine stolen outside my house. I never heard a thing. So much for the alarm and immobiliser.

    Service

    3 out of 5 3.0

Good for cheap service parts, but wouldn't even consider using their franchised dealers to get it serviced.

Leaky head gaskets and noisey tappets.
