Ford Puma (1997 - 2002) 1.4i 16V 3d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
I have seen them described as rot boxes. The second hand prices vary enormously. I think they represent, before and after restoration.
Unfortunately, I have noticed with my Mondeo of a similar vintage, people do not say, 'Wow, rare historic car'. They look, and do not say anything! It is not a good look.
How reliable do you find the car?
I have yet to drive the car that I inherited from my father in law. I remember how excited he was when he first bought it. And how amazed my brother in law was, at how much he had paid for it. It failed its MoT because of Excessive Rust. I wish I had asked the MoT tester exactly what he meant by 'Excessive Rust'. I think he would have replied, 'Rotten to the core'. The floor pan was rusty and it cost a lot to be welded. When I looked at the MoT reports I could see that it had been welded before. I had not checked these before embarking on the current adventure. I was very lucky to get a cheap second hand sub frame. Very lucky I think. I am now trying to get a power steering high pressure hose / pipe. They seem to be unobtainable. I think you might be able to buy sections, and it will work out as being very expensive. The problem was RUST. Look at the rear wheel arches if you are thinking of buying one.About their car
