Ford Puma 1.7i 16V 3d (1999/T) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Quite expensive for what it is underneath - a Fiesta. Was very fashionable for a while which kept used values high.
Costs
Seems very heavy on fuel no matter how you drive it, insurance is also quite expensive. Parts are cheap though.

On the road
Driving
Fantastic steering, brakes and gearchange. Plenty of power all through the rev range.
Performance
Pretty quick, will keep up with most hot hatches. Variable cam timing seems to work very well and gives the engine a lovely wide powerband.

Living with it
Reliability
Seems to be bullet-proof. Mine has a hard life and I have only had to replace one shock absorber.
Image
Fading a bit recently. Still kind of cool but perhaps a bit girly?
Comfort
Good in the front, comfy seats, lovely driving position. Very cramped in the back.

Security and Service
Security
Survived one break in attempt easily. Deadlocks are standard.
Service
Not had much to do with dealer. Ford dealer generally very average.
