Ford Puma 1.7i 16V 3d (2001/Y) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Qualify for a Ford discount from new, so excellent.
Costs
Quite good on petrol, but poor range (no more than 300 miles). Ford servicing needs to be cheaper - it costs over £100.

On the road
Driving
Nothing gets near it for the money. Totally intoxicating. You start to remember favourite bits of road you've driven on. Handling and steering are the pick of the whole car.
Performance
The 1.7 won't trouble a Subaru, but it is just right for a small car. Makes a terrific noise when the VCT opens up over 4000rpm.

Living with it
Reliability
No problems after 11,000 miles. Sometimes churns over a few times in the morning, but nothing more.

Comfort
The seats are very good over long distances, and dispite what the press say, at 6' 1", I have no head or legroom problems. It's not that bad in the back, either!

Security and Service

Deadlocking plus immobiliser is good news. All to Thatcham Category 2.
