Ford Puma 1.7i 16V 3d (2001/Y) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Ford gave an excellent discount. Hold their value better than most other Fords.
Costs
Dealer servicing far too expensive at over £100. However, good fuel ecomony and relatively cheap insurance redress the balance.

On the road
Driving
Absolutely untouchable for this money. Totally secure, responsive and exciting - easily the Puma's strongest point.
Performance
Never going to trouble a serious hot hatch, but matches the chassis perfectly. 1.7 revs cleanly and pulls strongly in all gears.

Living with it
Reliability
Largely faultless. Just a bulb gone in the instrumentation display, and the headlamp-levelling motor was stuck on. Never let me down though.
Image
Appeals to both sexes and all ages. Easy on the eye too; a car to be proud of.
Comfort
Seats are comfortable, and even though I'm over 6' tall, I have no problems fitting inside it. Rear seat for short journeys only.

Security and Service
Security
Comes with a Thatcham Cat. 2 alarm/immobiliser as standard. Park it somewhere safe though, as mine was vandalised.
Service
Ford have been helpful all along. They have sent me lots of questionnaires for feedback on ownership and servicing, which shows they have some interest in their customers.
