Summary
What does this car say about you?
Rational, but still some emotion left.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They like it.
Would you buy this car again and why?
I never buy the same car again. There is too much choice and only so much time (and money!) left.
What are you likely to buy next?
Because the S-max is so useful it will be around for a few years yet.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Didn't buy from a dealer
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£20,000
When did you buy the car?
June 2012
Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes, good. Car was very low mileage and very well speced.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Wanted a car to sit 5 plus dog, luggage etc and good to drive.
What was the dealer like?
I bought and ex-Ford fleet car from a second hand dealer in Walton-on-Thames. They were very good - a big contrast from the extremely sticky Ford main dealer I spoke to earlier in the decision making.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Great. Good steering and handling. Ecoboost engine incredible - very refined and lots of go. Best compliment I can pay is to say it is almost as good as our previous BMW 528i's silky 6 cylinder engine. Quiet and comfortable drive makes for relaxing long distance car. The difference between a traditional MPV and the S-max is that S-maxes like corners.
What's it like to park?
Fine, visibility OK. Big plus is that door mirrors let you seem the kerb - so no excuses then!
-
Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Nothing other than a loose air intake hose which it took the local Ford dealer 2 days to diagnose and fix. They were very polite but as you can tell fairly useless.
What's most practical about your car?
The inside gives lots of space for the four of us, plus my Dad, his wheelchair, our labrador and luggage.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
I like the blind spot warning light - gives peace of mind.
