Economy
Value
Can be picked up cheaply if you go private. Dealers can over-inflate prices.
Costs
I get around 24mpg locally and have had about 35 on a run. Parts still expensive, best shop around.

On the road
Driving
Responsive and manageable. Get a good gearbox and engine, and you're in 'driving heaven'.
Performance
Good performance from 2.0l engine. On reflection, should have gone slightly higher in cc.

Living with it
Reliability
Good reliability if you keep on top of problems. Everything is electronic, so find a reliable auto electrician.
Image
Stands out from the crowd.
Comfort
Great. Good sound system with 6 CD changer, seats comfortable, heated seats for winter, lots of legroom.

Security and Service
Security
Keep the red key safe! Doors can be double locked, for extra peace of mind. Some models have 'Global locking'.
Service
Have all my servicing done by the Ford Main Dealer. I thought that, with their experience, in dealing with this type of motor and with their state of the art equipment, I would be in safe hands. Unfortunately it was the reverse.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Have had it serviced every six months. Problems with tick-over and cold starting. Ford have been unable to fix this, but have given me several expensive options.
Other
Have had many Fords and all seem to need attention around the 8 year mark. Locks do not work, although they were replaced, with new keys, two years ago by the Ford Main Dealer. Key fob changed, (£80), now have been quoted £200 for a new unit.
Ownership
