Ford Scorpio Saloon 2.9 12V Ultima 4d Auto (1997/R) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Elec everything, paid £1500 with 78k and fsh
Costs
Bit thirsty, 16mpg round town, 25-28 mpg on motorway. If you want economy then buy a fiesta diesel! Servicing parts are quite cheap as 2.9 12v has been around since late 80's.

On the road
Driving
Great car for motorway driving, stick cruise control on and let the car do the rest (apart from steering)! Round town is so easy with the autobox. Once you get used to the size, parking is no longer a problem.
Performance
Kick down is a treat round town, hit kick down at 30 and it just takes off as you watch the econometer show 4mpg, but who cares. Top speed around 125 ish, (so I've heard!)

Living with it
Reliability
Never once let me down in 13 month, I personally find the 12v more reliable than the 24v as you dont have to worry about timing chains and DOHC breaking on the 12v, because it doesn't have any. 12v is such a simple design.
Image
I'm 29 and look like I borrowed grandads car, but who cares with leather and full electrics. If you like it, who cares what others think!
Comfort
Leather, elec memory heated seats, CD multichanger.

Security and Service
Security
Standard Ford alarm and immobiliser with deadlocks, plus the fact that who wants to nick one of these, they'll just go for the sporty little number down the road.
Service
Never been to ford, local garage does all servicing as it's a simple design.
