Ford Sierra Estate 2.0i Ghia 5d (1989/F) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
What do you expect for 500 notes 4 years ago??
Costs
DIY with OEM parts makes it the cheapest car I've ever owned.
-
On the road
Driving
Sloppy around corners. The back end comes unstuck easily, but you soon learn how hard you can push it.
Performance
Seems to me to have incredible grunt for a large estate. Really frightens the XR3i brigade.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Misses badly on damp mornings, but has never failed to start.
Image
The only thing going for this car is that it attracts no attention. The only car I've never been pulled over in!
Comfort
Reasonably comfortable inside. What you'd expect from Ghia spec.
-
Security and Service
Security
Pitiful, but who wants to steal it? Just leave the doors unlocked to save your windows getting smashed.
Service
Dunno. I'm a confirmed DIYer and theres nothing on this car that cannot be tackled with a basic knowledge of car maintenance.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Seems bulletproof, even with my driving. Stem seals mean a puff of smoke on starting.
Other
The only other problem is my reluctance to get rid of the old heap!
Ownership
Did you buy the car new?
Used
Would you buy the same model again?
No
Did you buy from the same manufacturer again?
Yes
