Ford Sierra Hatchback 2.8i V6 XR4i 3d (1984/A) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Good ones are hard to find now, with newest examples around 19 years old. Lots of equipment for a car of this age, including unique AWS and door sensor modules.
Costs
Expensive to maintain and run due to parts availability. Drinks fuel greedily.

On the road
Driving
Rear wheel drive means entertaining handling. Back end can slide out with hard driving.
Performance
0 - 60 in 8.5 seconds on a well maintained car. Nice beefy V6 engine pulls strongly, at it's best on the motorway.

Living with it
Reliability
Very old now. Most are scrap, so servicing must be regular. Good reliability if well looked after. Oil and filter must be changed every 3,000 miles.
Image
Looks brash and boy racerish with that unique bi-plane rear spoiler. They don't make 'em like this anymore.
Comfort
Old style Recaro seats supportive and comfortable, though obviously ride can't compete with newer models.

Security and Service
Security
Awful. With only an immobiliser and very weak locks, so easy to steal and drive away.
Service
Generally okay in a Ford kind of way.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Camshaft prone to failure after too many miles. Oil leaks.
Other
Radiator knackered. Tired suspension. Overheating problems.
