Ford StreetKa Roadster (2003-2006) engines, drive and performance
The 94bhp 1.6-litre unit offers pleasing, even if it’s not quite blistering performance. It gets to 60mph in 11.7 seconds and has a top speed of 107mph, with more than adequate mid-range power. It’s a significant improvement over the 1.3 unit fitted to standard Ka hatchbacks, fast enough for such a little convertible, and perfect for cruising.
With a low-slung driving position and a low centre of gravity, Ford’s open top funster handles as well as its looks suggest it should. Cornering is flat, the steering is sharp and the brakes are responsive; it’s a fun car to drive. It doesn’t comes at the expense of the ride, either, which is supple and copes well with most road surfaces. Because of its city car roots, StreetKa is easy to drive in town with a light clutch, nippy performance and good steering.
Parking is pretty easy, too.
