Honda Accord Saloon 1993-
  • Economy

    Value

    4 out of 5 4.0

Not especially cheap, new or used, but quality isn't.

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

Main dealer servicing is quite pricey and short intervals (6K) don't help. On the other hand, very little goes wrong. Fuel economy is reasonable.

  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Generally very competent. Slick controls, powerful brakes and secure handling. Jittery ride quality though, and unsettled over bumps at high speeds.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

2.3i engine is smooth and powerful, but only feels really quick from +4000rpm. Happy to be worked hard, and cruise at high speeds. The car's best attribute by some distance.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

    Flawless in every respect.

    Image

    2 out of 5 2.0

Smart looking and hasn't dated much but utterly anonymous - which can be a bonus.

    Comfort

    3 out of 5 3.0

Lots of standard toys, including the essential air-con. Good seats and plenty of cabin space, but the ride quality lets the side down. Too much road noise intrudes at motorway speeds.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    1 out of 5 1.0

Typically lax early-nineties Japanese: no standard immobiliser or deadlocks.

    Service

    4 out of 5 4.0

Honda dealers are generally a lot friendlier and more efficient than the industry average.
