Summary
What does this car say about you?
It looks like I earn more money than I do! I have taste and that I don't follow the crowd.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
I have had more compliments towards this car than any other car I have owned, bar a 3 series coupe back in the 90s. My teenage son thinks it's cool, so I'm happy with that.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Oh yes, it's the best car I've ever bought. I'd like to get the later version, but it doesn't seem to get as good reviews as this one. I like the idea of getting a CRV next time. However, if I saw a very late CDTI version of this with a good deal, I'd be tempted!
What are you likely to buy next?
Honda CRV, until retirement and then a Porsche Cayman!

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£3,700
When did you buy the car?
January 2015
Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes, very, I was surprised, as I have never bought from a large dealer before. The vehicle was in their winter sale and I was impressed at what a good deal I could get.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Great deal, low mileage, immaculate, like new, love the shape, build and sheer smoothness.
What was the dealer like?
Faultless, the car was like new, the test drive was comprehensive and the sales person was really impressive.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Really impressed with the way it handles, the steering is firm, it takes corners with aplomb, just like a previous 3 series I used to own, and unlike the Audi A3 that preceded it, it doesn't send me off to sleep with boredom!
What's it like to park?
It's fine, saloons aren't quite as easy to park as hatches, but the folding mirrors are large and well shaped and the glass area is big and non claustrophobic, I haven't nudged anything with the bumpers, yet!

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Nothing whatsoever, I commute nearly 60 miles per day and it has not put a foot wrong.
What's most practical about your car?
More than enough room for 4 in absolute comfort, the ride and engine and all over refinement is deeply impressive, the engine sounds more like a straight six than a 4. The boot is very generous and the toys are plentiful, with loads of chubby holes throughout the cabin.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Hands free, voice control phone is pretty handy, but the overall design of the cabin is faultless, it's modern, with good materials and I don't think it will ever date.
