  • Economy

    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

Great value. Having moved from a Mini Cooper S, where everything was extra, and looked at 3 Series and X types, it was nice not having to pay for essentials.

    Costs

    5 out of 5 5.0

Fantastic economy, 45 - 50 mpg easily achievable in real world motoring. Service costs seem fine.

  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Drives fine, handling fine. Composure over all roads and most speeds is great. If you're looking for an out and out great handling car then you'll be disappointed for e.g even with the fat 225/ 17 wheels it's a definate understeerer.

    Performance

    5 out of 5 5.0

Fantastic engine, very undiesel like with no turbo lag. Engine has the beating of both BMW's and Jaguars 2 litre units for performance and refinement. Lack of a sixth gear a bonus, the 5 ratios are perfect for UK motoring and fast motorways.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

Faultless, build quality brilliant - far better than Jaguar X type and up there with BMW.

    Image

    4 out of 5 4.0

Does it have one? The car looks great and comes without the sometimes negative images of other makes.

    Comfort

    5 out of 5 5.0

Most comfortable car I've ever had. Seats are fantastic. Minor niggle is inability to have fresh air from face level vents. Fantastic engine refinement & negligable wind noise draw attention to noise of optional 17"" wheels. Standard fit 16"" much quit
