Honda Civic Estate 1.8 VTi 5d (AC) (1998/S) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Good value, especially given the excellent relability.
Costs
Insurance quite steep, but depreciation and reliability very good. Good on petrol too unless you really push it.
-
On the road
Driving
Steering too slow and provides little feel, but grip levels quite high. Great gearbox and throttle response. Brakes okay but not brilliant.
Performance
For an estate, it really files if you take it to high revs. Not much grunt low down at all, as with all quick Hondas.

Living with it
Reliability
Faultless.
Image
Civics are generally seen as very staid, but VTi is a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Comfort
Very comfortable ride, although the engine revs are intrusive on the motorway due to high gearing. Needs a 6th gear.

Security and Service
Security
No alarm fitted, only an immobiliser.
Service
Excellent service - courteous, knowledgeable and honest.

None - it'll rev past 8000 all day.
