Honda Civic Hatchback (2000 - 2005) 1.6i VTEC Executive 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
I passed my test last year and was always set on a Civic due to its reputation for reliability, as well as the space. Handling is surefooted and the 1.6 VTEC is adequately powerful, although it can get droney at motorway speeds due to the lack of a 6th gear. Luckily the stereo is good so I can drown the engine noise out!
I am also a gigging musician and chose this style of Civic over the competition due to the space inside - it's huge! Nice big boot and also loads of space in the back seats. On numerous occasions I've fitted my band and all our instruments in - including amplifiers and an 88-key keyboard. It was a tight squeeze but everything slotted in! I doubt that would be the case in the majority of other cars this size. There's also lots of storage space.
I'm a new driver and the car has unfortunately sustained various knocks and scrapes, but mechanically it has always been pretty much perfect and I've only needed to spend money on consumables - brake pads and so on.
Numerous people recommended this shape of Civic to me before I bought it, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to someone else.
How reliable do you find the car?
Always mechanically reliable, air conditioning needs looking at but everything else works great.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
I'm a first time driver and was looking for something reliable, easy to drive and cheap to run, and I have been impressed.About their car
