Rust is a big issue when it comes to high mileage and high age. For example one rocker panel of my car rusted through. Engine might start consuming oil after 240 000 km (150 000 miles), but if the consumption is lot less than 1l per 1000 km (620 miles), the engine rebuilt is not necessary. This generation Civic sometimes has problems with worn out steering rack. Electrical problems are quite rare. In general parts are rather cheep and when you take care of it, it will last long. The ride is average, but running gear is usually durable. Overall a good choice for first car or for family's second vehicle.
