Summary
What does this car say about you?
That I like something different and quirky, yet I value build quality and reliability.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They loved its look, roominess and smooth drive.
Would you buy this car again and why?
No. I think the issues with this generation may have been ironed out, but I wouldn't take the risk. Which is a shame, as it's a lovely car to drive when it runs well. You just have to make sure you use it every day.
What are you likely to buy next?
Not sure. Looking for one now. Possibly a Nissan Qashqai.

Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
Yes
What price did you pay?
£17,000
When did you buy the car?
April 2006
Did you get a good deal and why?
Not especially. They threw in the metallic paint.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Liked the look and felt Honda would be reliable.
What was the dealer like?
Fine, until we experienced problems.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Comfortable, quick and corners brilliantly.
What's it like to park?
Easy enough. The front pillars obstruct some views slightly, but that's a safety issue on most cars now.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
There's an ongoing flat battery problem, which seems to be common to these Civics, but the garage says it can't find the cause. It lost power in certain gears almost from the first, but the dealer refused to accept there was anything wrong.
What's most practical about your car?
Its power and boot space - the biggest in its class.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Automatic lights and wipers are great, although we have to turn them off when we leave the car to try to avoid a flat battery!
