Honda Civic Hatchback (2017-2022) verdict
Should you buy a used Honda Civic Mk10?
Before we began researching this used car buying guide, our instinct would have been yes – Honda does, after all, have an excellent reputation for building reliable vehicles. But if one thing is clear from paying closer attention to the potential problems and faults, it’s that you must tread carefully when buying a secondhand Civic FK.
While good to drive, spacious and reasonable fuel efficient, each of the engines suffers from some reliability woes and there are plenty of more general issues to consider as well. To be fair, however, the most obvious rivals in this class are far from faultless either – though if reliability is your number one concern, perhaps you’d be better off looking at a Toyota Corolla. Or even a Hyundai or Kia.
Find a good one, and we’ve still no doubt the Civic will serve you well – as long as you keep on top of the maintenance.
