Honda Civic Type-R 2.0i VTEC 3d (AC) (2005/54) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Makes the new Golf GTi seem shockingly overpriced.
Costs
Insurance not too bad (I'm 37), more economical than a Gti.

On the road
Driving
Excellent - a real driver's car. Ignore any whinging about it lacking torque - it'll pull 6th from 30mph easily.
Performance
200 bhp + 1204 kg = silly fast. Pulling 8000 rpm sounds fantastic!

Living with it
Reliability
So far, no problems.
Image
Having yet to see anyone driving a new Golf GTI who is under 60, the Type-R definitely has a much "younger" image. It's also obviously a hot hatch too - low, menacing, aggressive and very unsubtle. Looks the part, and can deliver the goods too.
Comfort
Recaro seats are superb, driving position best of any car I've owned.

Security and Service
Security
Not tried to pinch it, so I don't know. Thatcham Cat 1 alarm.
Service
Not had to contact the dealer about anything so far - unlike my last VW.
