Honda Civic Type-R (2007 - 2010) 2.0 i-VTEC Type R GT 3d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
I absolutely love this car! I have always wanted one when i first saw it back in 97 and finally got my hands on one 9 years later, well worth the wait.
I bought a rare Bronze metallic version and with only 24000 miles on the clock! Amazing considering being nearly 9 years old and with a full Honda service history. When you first sit in the car you notice just how lovely the cabin is, the lovely dash, the red bucket seats and the way the rev meter just sits there in the middle staring at you! The digital speedometer sits just above it along the red V-tec and rev meter. It really is a lovely looking interior.
The drive is just lovely, yes it's a bit firm but i don't care one little bit and think the criticism in this field is a bit harsh. I only will be covering about 400 miles a month so can't complain but can understand the discomfort if someone is using this for their commute to work and being stuck in traffic everyday.
The engine is a work of art and according to Honda, they have never had a failure on their v-tec engines from normal wear, amazing. It is not turbo charged and relies on using the revs and once you go past 5600 revs, the engine just screams and pulls away like there is no tomorrow! I love it! A proper drivers car. I smashed pash 135 on the motorway without even realising before slowing down, proper pulling power. This is a quick car and the handling is amazing. I have got a standard spec version with 4 budget tyres and i honestly am amazed how it handles those tight corners, can't imagine how it will be when i get premium tyres and new springs fitted!
The stock brakes could and should be better if i have got a complaint as you need to really work the pedal to get good feedback but this is an easy fix by getting a decent set of pads fitted, this will be the first thing i do, They are fine for normal everyday driving but when enjoying the occasional fast drive i do have to plan to hit the brakes early. The brake discs are excellent and there is no need to upgrade these unless you really do want F1 style braking!
The exhaust also sounds amazing and i probably will get a miltek exhaust fitted in a few years to get a even better sound and response. Fuel wise you are looking at about 300 miles on a full tank on an average of 28mpg. Not great if commuting everyday but for normal use it's no issues at all. I'm filling once a month so no drama for me. Tax is £300 for the year which again is no great concern for me as i was aware of this beforehand. It's a sports car at the end of the day so is expected.
All is can say is buy one as these still look absolutely amazing and the performance is stunning, a lovely looking car and one that will put a smile on your face everytime you start the engine
