Honda CR-V (2012 - 2018) 2.2 i-DTEC EX 5d Owner Review

In their own words
The Honda CRV is basically a great car. The ride has changed over the last three models and for me my 2008 model was much more comfortable to drive. My current 2013 model feels the bumps on the roads more. Fuel economy is not great, so I was thinking my next car would be the 1.6 diesel but i do love the idea of a hybrid or a totally electric vehicle. The CRV is cavernous, so if you need space for 5 adults and luggage, the CRV is the best.
However I do have an issue with Honda on intermittent faults. My last two cars had these and both were quite serious. My 2008 model would lock me in the car without warning and myself and passengers were unable to exit. It took two years and several visits to the dealers to find the fault which appeared in the first few weeks of delivery. It only got sorted when I finally wrote a to the owner of the dealership, threatening to go direct to Honda.
My current CRV also developed a fault and slightly more serious in that, the Cruise Control cancel button did not always cancel the Cruise but would drop the speed by 1mph every time you pressed it. Unfortunately it too was intermittent and despite reporting it regularly to the dealership, they were unable to trace the fault. I decided this time to write to Honda to ask their advice, as the car was now over three years old and the fault was not only still happening but a recent month saw the fault starting to appear on a much more regular basis.
Honda Customer Service wrote to me to say firstly as the car was now over three years old, the warranty had expired and they would not get involved. I escalated this but then received a further email from Honda to say unless the dealer could trace the fault, there was nothing they could do. I found this statement quite astounding and quite frankly it's Headline News. "Honda UK will not deal with a serious intermittent fault in their cars until it has been traced by their authorised dealer." or maybe that should read, until a serious accident happens.
How reliable do you find the car?
I've had a serious intermittent fault with the Cruise Control since the car was new and it's still not fixed. Honda say they will not get involved unless the dealer has been able to trace the fault. The car is now over three years old, Honda now say the warranty has run out and now won't help at all.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
This is my third CRV with the last two EX models bought new from authorised Honda dealerships. My experience with Honda UK makes it unlikely I will ever buy a Honda again. It's actually a great car, just a shame about Honda's Customer Service.About their car
