Honda CRX 1.6i (130bhp) 3d (1989/G) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Best value FWD for the money.
Costs
Can be costly when they go wrong, but rarely let you down. It can drink petrol; I used 15 litres in ten miles (going flat out at 135mph).

On the road
Driving
Fantastic B road car, handling is sharp and accurate, and will top out at 135 mph.
Performance
My 1.6 16v 130bhp non vtec kept up with a 2.8l vr6 up to 120mph handling is immense.

Living with it
Reliability
Good reliability, but don't fit or buy one with a short shift gear stick as my crx suffered a gearbox failure and I think the shifter was to blame.
Image
Good old school looks still turns heads.
Comfort
Comfortable in front, but back seats are a waste of space.

Security and Service
Security
Not hard to get into as I've locked my keys in a few times, but would be OK with an alarm and immobiliser.
Service
Never dealt with main dealer as they are extortionate and I am a mechanic myself.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Absolutely flawless, mine is revved to 8,000 regularly and never misses a beat. Regular servicing is required though and check for oil leaks.
Other
Fantastic car will hammer Saxos, Novas and any other boy racer style thing and don't worry about boot. It never stays up, I use a bit of stick! Also, check sun roof seals for rust (very common fault).
