Honda CRX 1.6i VTEC 2d (1991/H) Owner Review

Economy
Value
I don't think there's a better NASP car you can pick up for within the realm of £3k, when it comes to all around looks, drivability, reliability and performance.
Costs
Not a lot goes wrong with a well maintained Honda, however parts are rather pricey when they are needed. Being able to do your own basic maintenance (changing oil, checking brakes for wear & tear etc) will save you a small fortune.

Driving
By far the most fun i've had in a car. It's rapid and reliable, and is a real driving experience. If you're one who likes luxury and not really knowing whats going on outside the car, don't buy this. If you like to 'drive' your car, this beauty is a gem!
Performance
160bhp from a 1.6ltr NASP engine. Not many manufacturers can boast that. It's a tad lacking in the torque department (±110lb/ft), but it will make good power all the way up to 8krpm, and will still push till around 8500 with no qualms.

Living with it
Reliability
It has one real bottleneck - the Distributer. Once thats seen as sound, the car is bomb proof. Never broken down on me. Class A engineering.
Image
A classic example of when a manufacturer get's it right. Only produced for a few years, Honda have a car with an almost cult status, thats sleek & sexy. Unfortunately the odd one or two get had by a Fast&Furious boy and, well, that's why I can't give a 5.
Comfort
Well, you don't buy a sporty performance car for the luxury ride do you? The Rex isn't one for comfort at all. On the plus side, the interior is nice, and seats are comfortable. This is overshadowed by the bumpy ride (sports shocks and springs).

Security and Service
Security
It doesn't come with an alarm fitted as standard, though most have these days. Being circa of 15 years old, it's not got the most modern safety features. Same security as most cars of it's era.
Service
Honda'a Service is generally pretty good, although they have some strange quirks, especially when ordering parts, and they are attrociously priced, of course build quality is reflected by the price tag.
