Honda CRX 1.6i VTEC 2d (1991/H) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Expensive cars for their age, but they are becoming a classic.
Costs
Expect to pay for replacement parts, some not always cheap! It seems most unipart/ general part specialists only stock 16v parts and do not know about the VTEC. May have to buy direct from Honda which is very pricey.

On the road
Driving
Great fun to drive. It's low, small, and nippy. Everytime you drive it will put a smile on your face!
Performance
Extremely rapid for a 1.6! Will hold off a lot of cars, especially in the mid gears. VTEC is like a mini turbo kicking in at 5500rpm and sounds fantastic. Handles like a go-kart as well, with a decent suspension setup!

Living with it
Reliability
It's a Honda so it'll be very reliable and last ages. However, they are old now so worn parts will have to be replaced.
Image
I think they look fantastic. I've had a number of comments off of random girls in the street within the 2 weeks I've been driving it. It will turn heads. Some people aren't so keen on it though.
Comfort
Depending on suspension setup it can be quite a bumpy ride, but the leather seats still have some comfort left in them. I wouldn't recommend this car for a lot of motorway miles.

Security and Service
Security
Terrible security as standard. Need to wack a Cat1 alarm on it a.s.a.p!
Service
So far Honda have been very helpful.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Needed new radiator. Thats it, so far.
Other
Rev counter broken, still trying to fix this. Quickshift gearstick rattles terribly (especially at motorway speeds), because of loose linkage or linkage rattling on exhaust.
