Honda e Hatchback Advance 35.5kWh auto 5d Owner Review

In their own words
I’d been interested in the Honda e since the show car 4 years ago. I’d got my name down in May 19. And then saw the demo at FoS in 2019. I wasn’t disappointed. The e has a very relaxing style. The interior is unlike any other car - yet very easy to use. Camera wing mirrors work well in all weathers - although it take a moment at night when they are completely black to realise there is nothing behind you. So don’t worry. The central rear camera resolution isn’t as good as the side ones - poor image at dusk and dawn. I find it fine, but my switches to the mirror. The multiple screens work really well. No reflections. The range isn’t an issue for me. Not travelling for work as much with Covid restrictions, but even so I worked out 95% of my journeys were less than 50 miles. I’m able to charge at home, which I realise is lucky. Performance is good. I was concerned coming from a Mini JCW. But I shouldn’t have worried. Perhaps I’m slowing as I get older. I rarely use sport mode. But there is a faster pick up - perhaps Honda ought to stiffen the steering in sport? Not much will beat me at the traffic light GP. But actually the e is very relaxing to drive. It rides really well. And has a comedically tight turning circle. I guess my only complaint is why Honda didn’t split fold the rear seat. This would make it even more practical. It is very cheap to run - I pay 5p/kWh for electric at night. So the e works out at less than 2p/mile. Go for a test drive. You won’t regret it.
How reliable do you find the car?
No problems with the car. The 12v battery had a hiccup after I’d been inflating tyres with an electric pump. But a quick trickle charge fixed the battery. The oddest thing is the MyHonda + app. That works but very s l o w l y. You can remotely charge, lock, give access to family, warm up the car. But the app just needs more development.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
The car really is a joy. Makes you smile as you approach as the lights do a circular dance, the doors unlock and the interior illuminates. Put a key in an ignition - how 1990’s. No, with the e everything lights up, safety belt on, put your on the brake, engage forward or reverse and we’re ready to go. Reverse brings rear and surround cameras. Forward brings front cameras, with a choice of view. Apple CarPlay works well. And a good sound system.About their car
