Honda HR-V (2015 - 2020) 1.6 i-DTEC EX 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
i bought this as a more economical replacement for a Mistubishi Outlander PHEV Honda have a reputation of making reliable vehicles and my attitude was that as i was doing long distance driving at the time, an economical diesel was the way to go. I didn't need to worry about keeping the DPF clean and that has been the case. Overall the vehicle does what I bought it for, but I should expect that from a modern vehicle. The downsides have been a result of poor quality components resulting in failures that I wouldn't have expected from a 70's BL vehicle 1) The infotainment system is based on a poor copy of Android, and often crashes leaving satnav, rear view camera and steering wheel switches inoperable. Cure is to reboot it 2) Satnav will not allow updates 3)the intake hose between the air filter and the throttle body has a known tendancy to split. Easy £70 replacement, but slams you into limp mode with the dashboard lit up. Scary 4) Start stop button will get dirty and stop working until cleaned - known pattern failure across the Honda range 5) TPMS - Unreliable 6) Rats and mice like the taste of the wiring.
Overall the base car itself seems OK but the electronics and quality of some of the parts let it down. It's got to the point that I'm considering trading it in, not because I don't like it, just that I don't really trust it anymore
How reliable do you find the car?
