Honda Insight 1.0i Hybrid Electric 3d (1999/V) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Good value can be gained second-hand as specifications are good and depreciation is high (expensive new).
Costs
Must be one of the cheapest cars to run - 80+mpg, low road tax and congestion charge free!

On the road
Driving
Great to drive as electric assistance acts like a turbo on this lightweight car; has a go-kart style of suspension.
Performance
Even though this is a 1-litre, environmentally friendly car, performance is very nippy, particularly between 20-50mph for example; 110mph top speed.

Living with it
Reliability
I have not had the car for long, but it should have the same reliability that Hondas are renowned for.
Image
The car looks great with its low curves giving it a drag coefficient of 0.25. Polished aluminium wheels, which are covered at the rear, help make this car a definite head turner.
Comfort
Comfort suffers with firm go-kart ride; the main drawback of the car is that it is a two seater. Air con is standard, however.

Security and Service
Security
Factory fitted immobiliser is standard and, in theory, this car should not be high on the list of thieves.
Service
Only marked as average because I have not dealt with a Honda Dealer.
