In the two years I owned this car, it never let me down.
as i said earlier it will make a fantastic first care for someone as it has the right amount of power to keep them out of trouble while the easy to use control side of things will help them with their driving. I would recommend it over any of the other small cars that are rivals to it on practicallity alone. you can have three full sized mountain bikes stood up in the back and still swallow all the other bits needed to go with it.
its wasn't the best on motorway runs as the seats lacked a lumbar support (fine for lateral G just not for long distance) and the wind noise was very apparent due to it being the basic spec model.
if you can find one with it, cruise control will be a real help as the throttle was soo light that i found myself getting uncomfortable holding a speed for long durations of time.
How reliable do you find the car?
very cheap to run, no mechanical issues, just standard wear and tear. used next to no oil.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
it was meant to be a cheap replacement to get me from A-B. having stepped into it from a 1.6 turbo diesel I was pleasantly surprised by the way it pulled itself along, it even out pulled many of its similar sized and displacement rivals (Fiesta and corsas) due to its low kurb weight. the gear box is only a 5 speed but i can honestly compare it to some 300hp sports cars for the quality of its throw. I would say this is probably one of the best first cars for a young person out there despite the old person owner reputations (at the time of ownership I was 24 so its safe to say I am one for the few people who ever actually used the vtec capability of its engine) The range of practicality it has makes it very versatile as well. Honda's magic seats with the taller roof line mean you can carry a range of random objects that wouldn't normally fit in a car of this size. It is by no means a fast car so the engine is worked hard to get any sort of performance out of it, so real world driving means you will only really get around 40-45 mpg which is down on the claimed figure.About their car
