Honda Prelude 2.0 2d (1993/L) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Ultra reliable sports coupe for very little cash.
Costs
When it needs parts, they are expensive at Honda dealers, but very very rarely will it ever go wrong if looked after.
-
On the road
Driving
Flat cornering, stable, quick and very difficult to upset on corners. Superb.
Performance
Fast on the motorway in the high revs. The engine is easy to use as a city runabout and will return 30mpg, but loves to be opened up on country roads. The noise is fantastic to the redline.

Living with it
Reliability
Impeccable. Nothing has gone wrong with this car.
Image
With its low suspension and wide curvy body, this bad boy will put any newer cars to shame. Very, very good looking. Especially mine, bright red :)
Comfort
On long journeys, lack of decent neck support can be uncomfortable, but is very dependent on the individual.

Security and Service
Security
Standard is poor. I've fitted a Cat 1 Alarm/immobiliser and use a disclock. Seems to do the trick.
Service
For the basics, you can't knock 'em. But they are pricey, and if you are unfortunate enough to have a major problem, you'll have to fork out big time...

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
I have suffered at the hands of a bad garage, whose cambelt job failed, leaving me with a tapping engine and a £1500 repair bill. Take my advice: FOR MAJOR WORK, ALWAYS USE HONDA!
Other
Clutch is now worn and had I not been done over with the cambelt, this car would still be running up and down the country like it used to.
Ownership
Did you buy the car new?
Used
Would you buy the same model again?
Yes
Did you buy from the same manufacturer again?
No
