Honda Prelude 2.2 VTEC 4WS 2d (1993/K) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
So much car and such an electric pack for your money.
Costs
Honda dealer servicing was expensive in the early years, but I've found there are plenty of competent non-dealer garages out there.

On the road
Driving
After 4 years, still huge fun. I knew when I drove it away from the dealer that this was the first car in my life that I wouldn't get bored with after 2 years!
Performance
Blistering acceleration and a grip on the road like glue, even with the occasional miscalculation going into an unfamiliar bend in the dark.

Living with it
Reliability
So strong and reliable, in spite of the high stresses inherent in enjoying this car to the full.
Image
Stunned me when it was first released and, 12 years on, it still turns heads. A future classic, surely.
Comfort
Driver (with electric seat adjustment) and front seat passenger are very good. Rear seat passengers have more chance of developing a DVT than air passengers to Australia. But then, who in their right mind would buy this car if they really need 4 seats???

Security and Service
Security
But it only costs a couple of hundred quid for a good Toad system, so who cares with so much else on offer?
Service
Main dealer service is expensive, but exceptionally good. On the other hand, why bother when the car's value has dropped to below the annual servicing costs?

Problems and Ownership

Engine
Sweet, sweet, sweet!
Other
Air con condenser went at about 80k and was pricey. Non-Honda garages may not realise the 2.2 requires 2 cambelts when they are due for replacement.
